Dharmasthala Case: MLA V Sunil Kumar raised voice in Assembly
Dharmasthala Case: During a session of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, BJP leader V. Sunil Kumar raised the issue of the Dharmasthala case, specifically the investigation into the alleged mass burials and the long-unsolved murder of Soujanya.
Kumar expressed concern that under the pretext of the investigation, a prominent Hindu religious center like Dharmasthala was being subjected to a “smear campaign” on social media. He stated that while he welcomes an investigation into the matter, the ridicule and false information being spread are impacting the faith and beliefs of many.
He questioned the progress of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the government. He pointed out that despite exhuming multiple locations based on claims from an anonymous person, the SIT had not yet found anything concrete. He asked the government, “How many more places will you dig? What have you found so far?”.

Kumar demanded that the government take action against those who are running a smear campaign against the temple and that the government take “cautious steps to protect the sanctity of Dharmasthala.”
He alleged that certain individuals were involved in a continuous smear campaign and that the Congress government’s “apparent sympathy” towards them has raised suspicion. He demanded that Home Minister G. Parameshwara provide an interim report on the SIT’s findings.
In response, Home Minister G. Parameshwara stated that the SIT was constituted in response to public demands and that the investigation is on-going. He said he would be able to provide a report once the probe is complete.
