Vittla Police Staff and Passport Applicant Face Charges for Fake Documentation

Bantwal (Dakshina Kannada) : A case has been registered against a Vittla Police Station official and two others for allegedly aiding in obtaining a passport using fraudulent documents.

The police staff involved, Pradeep, has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, while the other accused, Shaktidas, is under investigation for submitting false records in his passport application.

According to the police, the incident came to light when discrepancies were found during the verification process of a passport application submitted by Shaktidas in February. His address did not match the one listed in the official documents, which led to a recommendation for further review by higher authorities.

However, Shaktidas resubmitted his application in June. Pradeep, a police official at Vittla Police Station, allegedly forged documents, including a verification report, using the name of a beat staff member, Sabu Mirji.

He had the forged report signed and sent it for approval by the higher authorities. Investigations revealed that the official records were destroyed to cover up the act, ensuring no one could uncover the forgery.

The incident was uncovered during routine documentation checks on December 19. The passport, a key government identification, was issued based on manipulated documents and a falsified police clearance certificate, a criminal offense under the law.

District SP Dr. Arun Kumar confirmed the development in a WhatsApp group, informing the public that a case had been filed at Vittla Police Station against the accused.

The police are further investigating the involvement of other individuals, with suspicions that Shaktidas may have come from outside the country, though his exact background remains unclear. The action has sparked concerns about the misuse of power and fraudulent practices within the system, leading to stronger calls for transparency and accountability in government services.

Authorities are ensuring that the case is taken seriously, and action will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
