High command to take call on cabinet reshuffle, hints Parameshwar amid political buzz

Tumakuru : Amid growing speculation over a possible cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka, Home Minister G Parameshwar on Tuesday indicated that such a move could be on the cards, adding that the final decision rests with the party high command.

Speaking to reporters in Tumakuru, Parameshwar said the recent visit of several legislators to Delhi has fueled discussions about ministerial aspirations and a possible reshuffle. “If nearly 30 MLAs have gone to Delhi seeking ministerial positions, it naturally indicates that there are expectations of changes,” he remarked.

He clarified that there is nothing wrong in senior legislators aspiring for ministerial berths. “Those who have been elected multiple times have every right to seek a ministerial position. However, decisions regarding cabinet reshuffle or leadership change will be taken by the high command,” he said.

The remarks come at a time when political circles are abuzz with speculation about changes in the state cabinet. While there has been no official announcement, Parameshwar’s statement is being seen as a strong indication that discussions may be underway at higher levels.

On another issue, the Home Minister spoke about efforts to curb irregularities at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. He said a senior officer has been appointed to clean up the system and ensure strict monitoring. “Action is being taken to eliminate illegal activities. Investigations are ongoing, and FIRs are being registered as part of the process,” he noted.

Parameshwar also commented on the Centre’s move to introduce a 33% reservation for women in legislatures, welcoming the initiative. He recalled that B. R. Ambedkar had long advocated for women’s rights and representation.

While supporting the move, he suggested that the proposal should be discussed in an all-party meeting before implementation. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said broader consensus would strengthen the bill.

With speculation intensifying, Parameshwar’s remarks have added momentum to discussions around cabinet changes, signalling possible political developments in the coming weeks.
