School college holiday declared in Udupi on July 24 due to heavy rainfall
School holiday: Udupi Deputy Commissioner declared holiday on July 24 for all government and private schools and PU colleges due to heavy rain. The order comes in the wake of heavy downpour in the Coastal Karnataka since last few days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for Heavy to Very Heavy Rain with sustained winds (30-40 kmph) at a few places, and Extremely Heavy Rain with sustained winds (30-40 kmph) at one or two places over Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts on July 24, 2025.
This indicates a high likelihood of widespread, intense rainfall in these coastal regions. A “yellow alert” has been issued for districts like Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada, indicating the need for preparedness due to heavy rainfall.

South Interior Karnataka (e.g., Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan): Heavy rain with sustained wind (50-60 kmph) is likely at one or two places. Light to moderate rain with sustained wind (40-50 kmph) is also likely at most places over various districts including Bengaluru (Rural and Urban), Mysuru, Mandya, etc.
North Interior Karnataka: Heavy rain with strong surface winds is also expected.
