Due to heavy rainfall Udupi district administration has declared a holiday for anganwadis, primary and high schools in districts including government, aided and unaided private schools on Thursday, July 17, as a safety precaution.
Heavy rains are lashing the entire Dakshina Kannada district. As a precautionary measure, the respective tehsildars have declared a holiday for schools in Mangalore, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Mulki and Ullal taluks on July 17.
Udupi District:
While an orange alert is in place for Udupi on July 16 and 17, a general district-wide school holiday has not been officially announced for July 16 as of the latest information. However, local administrations (e.g., Tahsildars) may declare holidays for specific taluks or areas if conditions worsen.
Kodagu District:
Kodagu has declared school holidays on various dates in early July (e.g., July 3), and further closures are likely as heavy monsoon activity continues.
Orange Alert: Issued for Coastal Karnataka (Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada) for July 16, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall. This alert is also given for July 17 and 18 for Udupi and Dakshina Kannada, and extends to July 19 for Dakshina Kannada.
Yellow Alert: Issued for Malnad districts like Shivamogga, Kodagu, and Chikkamagaluru for July 16, with orange alerts for these districts on July 18 and 19.
Other Districts: Bengaluru Urban and Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Gadag, Koppal, Dharwad, Vijayapura are under Yellow Alert for heavy rain on July 16.
