Heavy Rainfall alert for next 2 days in Coastal Karnataka
Heavy Rainfall alert: The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rain across various parts of Karnataka, particularly for coastal Karnataka and also for North Interior and South Interior Karnataka.
Coastal districts are under Orange Alert for July 16 and 17, and Yellow Alert for July 18 and 19, with increasing rainfall predicted from July 20. Belagavi district is also under an Orange Alert for July 16. Bengaluru is expected to experience heavy rain with a Yellow Alert for July 18 and 19.

Coastal Karnataka (Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada):
July 17, 2025: Heavy rain with sustained wind (30-40 kmph) likely at a few places.
July 18, 2025: Heavy rain with sustained wind (30-40 kmph) likely at a few places.
South Interior Karnataka (Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Bengaluru, Mysuru, etc.):
July 17, 2025: Heavy to very heavy rain with sustained wind (40-50 kmph) likely at one or two places over Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu districts. Heavy rain with sustained wind (40-50 kmph) likely at few places over Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagara, Shivamogga, Mysuru, Mandya, Bengaluru (Rural), and Bengaluru (Urban) districts.
July 18, 2025: Heavy to very heavy rain with sustained wind (40-50 kmph) likely at one or two places over Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu districts. Heavy rain with sustained wind (40-50 kmph) likely at few places over Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagara, Shivamogga, Mysuru, Mandya, Bengaluru (Rural), and Bengaluru (Urban) districts.
North Interior Karnataka (Belagavi, Bagalkot, Bidar, Kalaburgi, etc.):
July 17, 2025: The IMD forecast for July 17 and 18 for North Interior Karnataka does not show “heavy” or “very heavy” rainfall warnings as of the latest update on July 16. It indicates “no warning” for these two days. However, light to moderate rain with sustained wind (40-50 kmph) is likely at a few places over districts like Bagalkot, Bidar, Kalaburgi, Haveri, Gadag, Dharwad, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, and Yadgir.

Bengaluru Specific Forecast (for next 24 hours from July 16):
Generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain likely. Sustained wind with wind speed (40-50 Kmph) likely. Maximum & Minimum temperature very likely to be around 30°C and 20°C respectively.
The monsoon trough and an offshore trough along the Maharashtra-Karnataka coast are influencing these weather patterns. Due to the intense spells of rainfall, visibility may become poor leading to traffic congestion, and temporary disruption of traffic due to water logging or uprooting of trees is possible.
Residents in these areas, especially the coastal and Malnad regions, are advised to stay updated with local government advisories and take necessary precautions.
