Youth lynched over alleged affair with married woman

Bidar ; In a shocking incident in Chintaki village, Bidar district, a 27-year-old man from Maharashtra was lynched and beaten to death by family members of a married woman over suspicion of an illicit relationship.

Police identified the deceased as Vishnu, a resident of Gaungaon village in Nanded, Maharashtra. According to initial reports filed at Chintaki Police Station, villagers informed authorities that a man was being attacked and tied to a pole. On arrival, police found Vishnu in a semi-conscious state with severe injuries. He was initially admitted to Chintaki Government Hospital and later shifted to Bidar BRIMS Hospital for further treatment. Despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries.

Suspicion of relationship with married woman

Vishnu’s mother, Lakshmi, told police that her son had been in a relationship with a married woman named Pooja for about a year. Pooja had left her husband to live with Vishnu, and the relationship was known to her family. Three months ago, she had returned to her ancestral home in Naganpalli.

On Tuesday, Vishnu visited Pooja in Naganpalli along with two acquaintances. While at the Hanuman temple, Pooja’s father, Ashok, and brother, Gajanan, allegedly accused him of having an illicit relationship with her and attacked him with sticks outside the temple, according to Lakshmi’s complaint.

Viral video of assault

A video of the assault circulated on social media shows Vishnu tied and laid on the ground while Ashok and Gajanan repeatedly beat him with sticks. The victim can be seen crying for help in the footage.

Following Vishnu’s death, police have added murder-related sections to the FIR. Both Ashok and Gajanan have been arrested and are in judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing.
