Bank Holiday: Banks to Remain Closed for Five Consecutive Days Across India
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has announced a three-day nationwide strike from September 28 to 30.

Banking services across India are set to be disrupted for five consecutive days as bank employees have once again announced a nationwide strike, demanding the implementation of a five-day work week and the fulfillment of several long-pending demands. This marks the second nationwide bank strike by employees this month.
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has announced a three-day nationwide strike from September 28 to 30. Since September 26 falls on the fourth Saturday and September 27 is a Sunday, bank branches across the country are expected to remain closed for five straight days.
The prolonged closure is likely to inconvenience customers. Those who need to visit bank branches for important transactions are advised to complete their work well in advance. The strike is expected to affect not only public sector banks but also services at private banks.
SBI Issues Important Advisory for Customers:
In view of the extended bank closure, the State Bank of India (SBI) has issued an advisory to its customers through its official X (formerly Twitter) account. SBI has urged customers to complete all essential banking transactions before the strike begins. For urgent cash requirements, customers have been advised to make use of ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs).
The bank has also encouraged customers to use UPI, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, and Customer Service Centres (CSPs) for their banking needs during the strike period. SBI also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to customers due to the disruption in services.
