ISRO Headquarters Receives Third Bomb Threat Email in Four Days

ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru received another bomb threat email prompting an extensive security search while police confirmed it was a hoax and continued investigating multiple unrelated threat messages across Karnataka.

Bengaluru witnessed another security scare after the Indian Space Research Organisation headquarters on New BEL Road received its third bomb threat email within four days. The latest message, which warned of an explosion at 2 pm, was noticed by ISRO staff on Monday morning after it had reportedly arrived the previous night. Officials immediately alerted the police, triggering a large scale security operation across the campus.

Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad personnel, sniffer dogs, CISF security teams, and Sanjaynagar police thoroughly searched the ISRO headquarters, including Antariksh Bhavan. As a precaution, police also inspected the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network facility located in the Peenya industrial area. After several hours of detailed checks, authorities confirmed that no suspicious objects or explosives were found, declaring the email a hoax.

Investigators said the latest threat is different from the earlier cases. A 36 year old man from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh had already been arrested on July 3 for sending a threat email to the ISRO Chairman’s office a day earlier. However, police clarified that neither the second email, which was written in Tamil, nor the latest threat appears to have any connection with the arrested individual. Officials said all three emails originated from different email accounts, and separate cases have been registered for further investigation.

The repeated threats have raised concerns over security in Karnataka. Apart from ISRO, the Kalaburagi District Court also recently received a bomb threat email claiming that RDX based improvised explosive devices had been planted inside the court premises. The sender also demanded the release of two accused in a POCSO case. Following the alert, local police, along with bomb disposal and dog squads, carried out a comprehensive search of the court complex.

Although all recent searches ended without finding any explosives, law enforcement agencies remain on high alert as they continue tracing the origin of the threat emails and identifying those responsible for creating panic.
