A terrifying lion attack in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district has gone viral after a video captured the dramatic moments of a man struggling to survive while villagers fought to rescue him. The incident has sparked concern among residents living near forest areas.
The attack took place on Sunday morning in Garajiya village of Palitana taluk. Kalubhai Boghai Parmar was reportedly feeding his cattle near his home when a lion suddenly emerged from nearby bushes and pounced on him without warning.
The viral video shows the lion pinning the victim to the ground while gripping one of his legs with its paws and holding his hand firmly in its jaws. Despite suffering serious injuries and heavy bleeding, the man remained conscious and was seen gently stroking the lion’s head in what appeared to be a desperate attempt to calm the animal and stay alive.
As the frightening scene unfolded, villagers rushed to the spot and surrounded the lion. They shouted loudly and tried repeatedly to scare the animal away. Even as people gathered around, the lion refused to release the injured man for several tense moments before finally retreating into the nearby forest after sustained efforts by the villagers.
The injured man was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he is receiving treatment for multiple injuries. His condition has prompted concern among local residents, many of whom fear further encounters with wild animals.
Forest department officials later reached the village to investigate the incident and assess the situation. The attack has once again highlighted the challenges faced by communities living close to wildlife habitats, where interactions between humans and wild animals occasionally turn dangerous.
