Sadananda Gowda hints at BJP-ready government with DK Shivakumar’s external support

Tumakuru: Former Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday made a sensational statement, claiming that if Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar decides to extend external support, the BJP is ready to form a government in the state.

Speaking to reporters in Tumakuru, Gowda said, “If DK Shivakumar gives us outside support, we have no objection to forming the government. Our leaders can take charge as CM. But whether DK Shivakumar can become CM with BJP’s support is a decision the high command will take.”

Gowda asserted that Karnataka is currently witnessing a strong anti-incumbency wave, and public sentiment is shifting towards the BJP. “The high command will not make the mistake of supporting DK Shivakumar when the people are clearly moving towards the BJP,” he added.

Commenting on Deputy CM Shivakumar’s claim of having support from 70 MLAs, Gowda said, “If he truly had the backing of 70 legislators, his own high command would have made him Chief Minister long ago.” He also hinted that Union Minister V. Somanna’s recent remarks about a “possible alternative arrangement” in Karnataka politics could be true.

However, Gowda opposed the idea of mid-term elections, stressing that it would stall Karnataka’s development.

Earlier, during a press meet, Gowda slammed the Congress government for corruption. “They accused our BJP government of taking 40% commission and came to power misguiding people. Now they are taking 80% commission. If BJP returns to power, we will investigate their corruption. They could not prove any allegation against us,” he said.
