Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G Launching August 18 With Dual Displays and 6500mAh Battery

TECNO is preparing to bring its Pova 8 Pro 5G to India on August 18. The new smartphone is expected to attract attention mainly because of its unusual rear design and a second display placed alongside the camera module.

The company has named this rear screen the Alive Matrix Display. Unlike the conventional rear panels seen on most smartphones, the secondary display is designed to show notifications, visual effects and potentially provide quick access to certain functions. TECNO is expected to reveal more about its India specific uses around the launch.

The design does not stop with the extra screen. The phone has a flat metal frame and a distinctive orange button on the right side. TECNO has not yet detailed exactly what the additional button will do, adding another small mystery to the device.

The global version of the Pova 8 Pro 5G uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset. It is available internationally with configurations including 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, 12GB RAM with 256GB storage and a higher 12GB RAM with 512GB storage option. The configurations available in India are expected to be confirmed at launch.

On the front, the phone carries a 6.78 inch HyperLux AMOLED display. The panel supports a 144Hz refresh rate and is claimed to reach up to 4500 nits of peak brightness. It also supports 1.07 billion colours, making the screen suitable for gaming, video consumption and everyday scrolling.

Photography is another major part of the package. The global model features a 50MP primary rear camera with optical image stabilisation, paired with an 8MP ultrawide camera. A 13MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. The OIS system should help reduce unwanted movement, particularly while taking photos or recording video in challenging lighting.

Battery capacity is one of the stronger points of the Pova 8 Pro 5G. The smartphone packs a 6500mAh battery and supports 45W wired fast charging. An under display fingerprint sensor is also included for biometric security.

The global version has been listed in Arc White, Graphite Black and Tundra Green finishes. However, TECNO is yet to confirm which colours and storage configurations will be offered to Indian customers.

With its rear display, high refresh rate AMOLED panel and large battery, the Pova 8 Pro 5G is clearly aiming to stand apart from conventional mid range smartphones. Its Indian pricing and complete specifications will be among the key details to watch when the phone officially launches on August 18.
