Freedom Habba Traffic Diversions Announced in Bengaluru for August 15

Bengaluru is preparing for heavy crowds on August 15 as Freedom Habba is scheduled to take place in front of Vidhana Soudha. The event will run from noon until 10 pm, prompting traffic police to introduce restrictions around the area.

With thousands of visitors expected, commuters travelling through central Bengaluru have been advised to plan their routes in advance and follow the diversions announced by the traffic police.

Roads around Vidhana Soudha to face restrictions

Traffic movement on both sides of the road in front of Vidhana Soudha will be restricted. Vehicles travelling from Ambedkar Road towards KR Circle and those moving from KR Circle towards Shivajinagar and Vasanth Nagar through Ambedkar Road will not be allowed to use the affected stretch.

The restrictions are aimed at keeping traffic moving while allowing space for the large crowd expected at the Freedom Habba venue.

Alternative routes for commuters

Vehicles travelling from Ambedkar Road towards KR Circle can take the route from Balekundri Junction through Cunningham Road. From Chandrika Circle, motorists can turn towards Basaveshwara Junction and continue through Palace Road to reach KR Circle.

Another option is to travel from Balekundri Junction through CTO, Queens Junction, Siddalingaiah Junction, RRM Road and Corporation Circle.

Motorists arriving from the BRV side can turn right near Anil Kumble Circle and proceed through Queens Junction, Siddalingaiah Junction, RRM Road and Corporation Circle.

Traffic coming through Raj Bhavan Road can take a left at Chalukya Circle and continue along Palace Road towards KR Circle.

Routes towards Shivajinagar also changed

Vehicles travelling from Ambedkar Road towards Shivajinagar can take a left near Maharani flyover and proceed through Palace Road and Basaveshwara Circle towards Vasanth Nagar and Shivajinagar.

Another option is to travel from KR Circle through NR Road, Corporation Circle and KB Road, also known as Khase Subba Rao Road, towards Shivajinagar.

Large police deployment planned

Police have prepared extensive security arrangements for the event. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said more than 18,000 people had registered online for the celebrations.

The programme will be divided into three sessions. The first will run from noon to 3 pm, followed by a second session from 3 pm to 6 pm. The final session will begin after 6 pm, with different activities planned during each period.

Entry will also be managed according to the time mentioned in the QR code issued to visitors.

Over 3,000 personnel are expected to be deployed for security and traffic management. Officials have indicated that the arrangements will be similar to the security measures used during major IPL matches and New Year celebrations.

Morning traffic restrictions are also expected between KR Circle and Thimmaiah Circle on August 15. Commuters using central Bengaluru roads are therefore advised to allow extra travel time and follow police instructions throughout the day.
