Bengaluru: Minister Priyank Kharge has questioned BJP leader Pratap Simha over his alleged attempts to block a book titled Secrets of the Dark World, asking whether the Mysuru MP was afraid of what it might reveal.
Taking to social media platform X, Kharge wrote, “What kind of dark stories are hidden in your world of darkness, Mr. Pratap Simha? Why have you obtained a restraining order against the book Secrets of the Dark World? What are you trying to hide?”
Continuing his attack, Kharge said, “The BJP-rejected and now unemployed Pratap Simha seems desperate to remain in the news. Mysuru journalists tell me off the record that he goes around pleading for my reactions every day just to make headlines.”
The minister also questioned Simha’s current status within the BJP. “Pratap Simha, who pokes his nose into every issue, should first clarify what position he currently holds in the BJP. Does he have any official role or authority?” Kharge wrote.
Responding to Simha’s recent remarks questioning his qualifications, Kharge said, “If you are questioning my eligibility, wasn’t it your own party that denied you a ticket because you lacked merit? My work and performance in the departments I’ve handled are well documented—not by me, but by records and data from the BJP-led central government itself.”
Listing Karnataka’s achievements, Kharge said, “The central government itself has declared Karnataka as the No. 1 state in Panchayat Raj decentralization. It has acknowledged that our gram panchayats have achieved record tax collections. Karnataka contributes 38% of the country’s total IT exports and ranks first in innovation with the highest number of R&D centers in India.”
He further mocked Simha’s understanding of governance and policy, saying, “Had Pratap Simha cultivated the habit of reading or doing a bit of research, he would have known all these facts. And by the way, Mr. Simha, what are the educational qualifications of your leader Narendra Modi? Where is his certificate?”
Kharge’s sharp remarks come amid a series of political exchanges between the Congress and BJP in Karnataka, with personal jibes increasingly replacing policy discussions.
