MLC Election Cross-Voting: BJP High Command Issues Key Directions to State Leaders

BJP National President Nitin Nabin has reportedly communicated clear instructions to both Ashoka and Vijayendra in this regard.

MLC Election Cross-Voting: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command has issued important instructions regarding the alleged cross-voting by BJP MLAs in the Legislative Council election 2026. The party leadership had summoned Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka and Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra to New Delhi to discuss the matter.

The high command has directed the committee headed by C.T. Ravi to submit a comprehensive report on the cross-voting incident by June 25. BJP National President Nitin Nabin has reportedly communicated clear instructions to both Ashoka and Vijayendra in this regard.

The report is expected to include the names of the MLAs involved in cross-voting, along with detailed explanations of the reasons behind their actions. The BJP leadership has taken the issue seriously and is likely to initiate swift action based on the findings of the committee.

Meanwhile, the committee led by C.T. Ravi is preparing a preliminary report after examining circumstantial evidence and statements. If instructions are received from New Delhi, the preliminary findings may be sent immediately. Otherwise, the report is likely to be submitted after Vijayendra returns from Delhi.

However, identifying and naming the MLAs who allegedly cross-voted remains a challenging task. The committee has already contacted most BJP legislators over the phone as part of its inquiry. Notably, Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra had instructed the committee on June 19 to submit its report by June 25.

Following opposition from some party leaders, the BJP has also withdrawn its proposal to have MLAs take an oath at the sacred town of Dharmasthala regarding the cross-voting issue.

Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka clarified that the BJP Legislature Party would not hold a meeting in Dharmasthala to discuss the cross-voting that took place during the MLC election. He stated that Dharmasthala should not be turned into a political venue and emphasized that internal party matters would be discussed only within the party’s organizational forums.
