Monsoon Brings Heavy Rain Warning for Coastal Karnataka as Yellow Alert Issued
The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for coastal districts of Karnataka warning of heavy rainfall strong winds and rough sea conditions while other regions are expected to receive moderate showers with thunderstorms.

The monsoon season in Karnataka is showing increased intensity, with weather officials warning of widespread rainfall across several regions in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department has indicated that coastal areas are likely to experience the heaviest showers, prompting precautionary alerts for public safety and daily activities.
Coastal districts including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada have been placed under a yellow alert due to the possibility of heavy rain in isolated locations. Along with rainfall, wind speeds may reach 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, making sea conditions rough. Authorities have advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea during this period as waves are expected to be strong and unpredictable.
Moving inland, northern districts such as Belagavi, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Bidar, Koppal and Raichur are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are also expected in several pockets. Officials have urged residents in these regions to stay cautious, especially avoiding shelter under trees or weak structures during lightning activity.
In the southern interior parts of the state, including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Kolar, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Chamarajanagar and surrounding districts, weather conditions are expected to remain generally cloudy with intermittent light to moderate rain. The possibility of rainfall during evening or night hours remains high, especially in and around Bengaluru where cloud cover is likely to persist throughout the day.
Meteorologists have noted that monsoon activity is expected to strengthen further as June comes to an end and July begins. Rainfall intensity is projected to increase significantly in the Malnad and coastal regions, which are traditionally known for heavy monsoon showers during this phase of the season.
With changing weather patterns across the state, authorities continue to monitor conditions closely and advise the public to remain updated with official forecasts. The overall situation suggests that Karnataka is heading into a more active monsoon phase with rainfall likely to remain consistent in the coming days.
