Monsoon Showers Bring Cleaner Air Across Karnataka as Bengaluru Records Excellent Air Quality
Continuous monsoon rainfall and stronger winds have significantly improved air quality across Karnataka with Bengaluru and several major cities reporting healthy AQI levels creating safer conditions for residents and visitors.

The arrival of the monsoon has brought more than just pleasant weather to Karnataka. Continuous rainfall across the state has led to a noticeable improvement in air quality, with pollution levels dropping in several major cities. Environmental experts say the combination of steady rain and strong winds has helped clear dust particles from the atmosphere, resulting in healthier air for residents.
Bengaluru has emerged as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the changing weather. According to the latest air quality data, the city recorded an Air Quality Index ranging between 18 and 43, placing it firmly in the good category. These readings indicate that the air is clean enough for people of all age groups, including those with respiratory conditions, to carry out their daily activities without significant health concerns.
Different parts of Bengaluru have also reported encouraging air quality levels. Whitefield and Electronic City recorded AQI values between 35 and 38, while BTM Layout and Jayanagar remained around 40 to 42. Areas around Majestic and the Railway Station registered an AQI of approximately 45, which also falls within the satisfactory range. Environmental authorities believe that recent tree plantation drives along with persistent rainfall have helped reduce suspended particulate matter in the atmosphere.
The positive trend is not limited to the state capital. Coastal city Mangaluru, which has been receiving continuous rainfall, recorded an AQI below 25, making it one of the cleanest locations in Karnataka. Mysuru also reported healthy air with an AQI of around 30, reflecting the widespread improvement in environmental conditions across the state.
Northern districts including Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi and Kalaburagi have also witnessed lower pollution levels following rain accompanied by strong winds. Air quality readings in Hubballi and Dharwad remained between 45 and 50, which continue to fall within the good category. Reduced dust in the atmosphere has contributed to cleaner air across these urban centres.
Among all districts, Chikkaballapur and Yadgir have recorded some of the lowest pollution levels in the state. Air quality readings between 20 and 23 highlight exceptionally clean conditions, making these districts stand out during the current monsoon season.
Weather experts expect the improving trend to continue as monsoon activity remains active over Karnataka in the coming days. With regular rainfall forecast across coastal and interior regions, air pollution is likely to stay under control, offering residents a welcome break from poor air quality and creating a healthier environment throughout the state.
