Weather Report: Heavy Rain alert in southern states for next 1 week

Weather Report: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms in the southern states for next 1 week. Rain is expected in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Andaman and Nicobar Islands till April 7, with winds gusting to 40 to 50 kmph.

The Weather Report says that possibility of hailstorm in some parts of Andhra Pradesh and Northeast India. Additionally, from April 8, a new Western Disturbance is expected to affect the Western Himalayan region, bringing rain, hailstorm and strong winds to Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain with thunderstorms in Bengaluru on Monday, April 7. The weather forecasting agency has indicated that the capital of Karnataka will experience cloudy weather today.

According to a statement from the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), scattered thunderstorms are likely in Bengaluru and surrounding areas, with winds gusting up to 40 kmph. Isolated heavy rains are also likely in the southern interior of Karnataka, including Bengaluru urban and rural districts.

Residents are advised to stay indoors during storm activity and avoid travel during peak rainfall. Light rain with thundershowers is likely in several districts of North Interior, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka today.

The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of light rain with thundershowers and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at one or two places in Belgaum, Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri districts. Except for the above-mentioned districts, dry weather is likely to continue in the remaining districts.
