Karnataka: The Food and Civil Supplies Minister has directed officials to complete e-KYC for all ration card beneficiaries within one month (from July 18, 2025). There’s a warning that foodgrain supply may be stopped for those who don’t comply after this extended deadline. There might be some relaxation for single beneficiaries.

Jharkhand: As of July 14, a significant number of people (74.6 lakh) have not completed e-KYC, with 8.24 lakh ration cards having no e-KYC for even a single member. Food activists are urging the government to halt mass deletion of cards due to technical and systemic issues.

Odisha: As of July 15, over 20 lakh ration card holders had not completed e-KYC, leading to suspended rice allocation. The government is giving a three-month window for completion, after which cards may be cancelled.

Previous Deadlines: Some reports from earlier in 2025 mentioned a March 31, 2025 deadline for e-KYC completion, with warnings of suspension of benefits if not done.
It is crucial for ration card holders to check with their respective state’s Food and Civil Supplies Department or local Fair Price Shop for the most accurate and up-to-date deadline specific to their region.

Process for e-KYC:

The e-KYC process typically involves linking your Aadhaar card with your ration card and verifying details. Here’s how it’s generally done:

Documents Required:

Your Ration Card

Your Aadhaar Card (only Aadhaar is primarily required for verification)

Online Process (if available in your state):

Visit the official Public Distribution System (PDS) portal of your state government.

Look for an “e-KYC” section, usually under “Ration Card Services,” “e-Services,” or “Update Details.”

Enter your ration card number.

Ensure the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar is active, as you may receive an OTP for verification.

Enter the OTP to complete the Aadhaar verification.

Offline Process (most common method):

Visit your nearest Fair Price Shop (FPS) / Ration Shop.

Inform the FPS dealer that you wish to complete your e-KYC.

The dealer will initiate the e-KYC process through their e-POS (Electronic Point of Sale) device.

You will need to provide your biometrics (fingerprint or iris scan) for verification.

Once your biometric details are verified against your Aadhaar, the e-KYC process will be complete.

Important Points:

Aadhaar Linking: Ensure your Aadhaar card is already linked to your ration card. If not, this can often be initiated at the Fair Price Shop.
