Dharmasthala skull case nears final stage; SIT to file charge sheet by November 23

Dharmasthala skull case: The sensational Dharmasthala mass burial case, which made national headlines after ‘Maskman’ Chinnayya claimed he had buried hundreds of skeletons in Dharmasthala, has reached its final stage of investigation. Police have now confirmed that all of Chinnayya’s claims were fabricated, and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

According to sources, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has completed recording witness statements, collecting evidence, and examining key documents related to the case.

The team has begun drafting the final report and is expected to file the charge sheet before the Belthangady court by November 23. The process of finalizing the report began on July 25, and officials say the document will be ready for submission by the end of this month.

Meanwhile, in a dramatic twist, Sujatha Bhatt, the woman who earlier claimed that her missing daughter Ananya Bhatt was among those allegedly buried in Dharmasthala, has now expressed regret and admitted her mistake. Speaking emotionally, she said, “I joined hands with the burude gang. I was misled. I seek forgiveness from Lord Manjunatha and Dr. Veerendra Heggade.”

Sujatha further retracted her earlier statements, saying that the woman in the viral photo she had claimed was her daughter was actually Vasanthi, who is alive and not dead. She alleged that Vasanthi may have left with her husband Shrivatsa’s friend, who is reportedly the brother of a famous South Indian actor.

Sources in the SIT confirmed that the actor’s brother had been living in Bengaluru and frequently visited Vasanthi’s house. Soon after her disappearance, he allegedly left for Tamil Nadu and settled there. The SIT is now likely to issue a notice to the actor’s brother for questioning, though officials say his current address remains untraceable.

The Dharmasthala case, which began as a bizarre tale of buried skeletons, has now expanded into a complex web involving deception, false accusations, and possible links to high-profile individuals. The SIT aims to close the investigation with a comprehensive charge sheet later this month.
