Lightning Tragedy: Youth Dies While Grazing Cattle in Gadag
A 19-year-old youth was killed in a lightning strike in Karnataka's Gadag district, while his elder brother survived the incident and witnessed the heartbreaking tragedy firsthand.
Gadag: A tragic lightning strike claimed the life of a young man in Rajur village of Gajendragad taluk, leaving his family devastated. The incident occurred during heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning on Thursday evening.
The victim, identified as 19-year-old Prashanth Huded, had gone to graze cattle along with his elder brother. As weather conditions worsened, a lightning bolt struck Prashanth, causing his death on the spot.
His elder brother, who was standing nearly 60 meters away, escaped unharmed. However, he was left shocked after witnessing the sudden death of his sibling. In a heartbreaking moment, he carried his brother’s body back to the village on his shoulders.
The incident has sparked grief among villagers and relatives. Police have registered a case and initiated further proceedings. Authorities have once again urged people to avoid open fields and seek safe shelter during thunderstorms and lightning activity.
