BCCI officially terminated Rs 358 crore sponsorship deal with Dream11
BCCI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially terminated its sponsorship deal with fantasy sports platform Dream11. This decision comes after the Indian government passed the “Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025”, which effectively bans real-money gaming and its promotion.
The newly enacted law explicitly prohibits the advertising and sponsorship of real-money gaming platforms. Since Dream11’s core business model is based on real-money fantasy sports, continuing the sponsorship would have been a violation of the law for both parties.
The deal, which was for Rs 358 crore over three years (2023-2026), has been ended amicably. A clause in the contract reportedly allowed for a mutual termination without penalty if the sponsor’s core business was impacted by a change in government regulation. This means Dream11 is not liable to make any further payments to the BCCI.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed the termination and stated that the board “will not indulge with any such organisations ahead in future.” This indicates a clear shift in the BCCI’s sponsorship strategy to align with the new legal framework.
With the Asia Cup just a few weeks away, the Indian cricket team’s jersey is currently without a front-of-jersey sponsor. The BCCI has initiated the process to find a new title sponsor, but it is unlikely a deal will be finalized in time for the tournament.
The ban is also expected to significantly impact the revenue streams of other fantasy sports companies and their sponsorship deals with various leagues and players.
