Hardik Pandya Set to Lead KKR In IPL 2027
The rumors gained momentum after KKR shared a short video on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, leaving fans wondering if a major transfer is on the cards.
Ahead of the IPL 2027 season, speculation is mounting on social media that Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya could be on his way to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The rumors gained momentum after KKR shared a short video on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, leaving fans wondering if a major transfer is on the cards.
The video was filmed at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE), where KKR star spinner Varun Chakaravarthy was undergoing rehabilitation after an injury. In the background, Hardik Pandya can be seen playfully mimicking Varun’s weightlifting routine.
Soon after KKR posted the clip, speculation erupted that Hardik could be leaving Mumbai Indians to join the Kolkata franchise. Adding fuel to the rumors, KKR captioned the post with the cryptic phrase, “Wait of it…” Fans interpreted the mysterious tagline as a possible hint that Hardik’s arrival at KKR was imminent. The caption quickly went viral, triggering widespread discussion across social media.
According to reports, preliminary discussions regarding a potential trade may have taken place between the two franchises. However, no official agreement has been reached. A Mumbai Indians spokesperson dismissed the speculation, stating that the franchise is currently reviewing its performance from the previous season and is not involved in any player trade negotiations at this stage.
Why KKR Wants Hardik:
Following the departures of Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane, KKR is reportedly looking for an experienced Indian captain to lead the side. Hardik Pandya is believed to be one of the franchise’s top targets.
However, negotiations have reportedly hit a roadblock. Mumbai Indians are said to have demanded a high-profile player in exchange, while KKR is unwilling to part with key stars such as Varun Chakaravarthy, Harshit Rana, or Rinku Singh.
Instead, KKR is believed to prefer a cash-only deal. If Mumbai Indians agree to those terms, Hardik Pandya could potentially don the KKR jersey in the IPL 2027 season. As of now, however, neither franchise has officially confirmed any trade involving Hardik Pandya, and the speculation remains unverified.
