Gold price again down today: Check 24K, 22K and 18K gold rate

Gold Price: The gold and silver market is indeed witnessing a significant correction today, March 4, 2026. After hitting historic highs earlier this year, prices have taken a sharp dip due to global profit-booking and a strengthening US Dollar.

Here is the detailed breakdown of the current rates in India and major cities:

Gold and Silver Prices in India (as on March 4, 2026):(Purity, Price per 1 Gram and 10 Gram and Daily change)

24K (Pure Gold) – Rs 16,451 – Rs 1,64,510 – (- Rs 311)

22K (Jewellery Gold) – Rs 15,080 – Rs 1,50,800 (- Rs 285)

18K Gold – Rs 12,338 – Rs 1,23,380 (- Rs 234)

Silver – Rs 295 – Rs 2,950 (-Rs 1)

City-wise 22K Gold Rates (per 10 grams):

While the base price is similar, local taxes and octroi cause slight variations across cities:

Bengaluru: Rs 1,50,800

Chennai: Rs 1,52,000 (Slightly higher due to local demand)

Mumbai / Kolkata / Hyderabad: Rs 1,50,800

Delhi / Jaipur / Lucknow: Rs 1,50,950

Kerala / Bhubaneswar: Rs 1,50,800.

Silver has seen a notable drop, now trading at approximately Rs 29,500 for 100 grams and Rs 2,94,900 per kilogram. In some southern states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the retail price for silver is holding steady around Rs 29,500 for 100g.

Globally, gold prices fell below the $5,100 per ounce mark for the first time in weeks. This international “crash” is the primary driver for the Rs 5,000+ drop per 100g seen in Indian markets over the last 48 hours.

Despite the ongoing Middle East tensions (which usually push gold prices up), investors are currently moving toward the US Dollar as a “safer” liquid asset, leading to heavy sell-offs in precious metals. These prices are indicative and do not include the 3% GST and making charges which will be added at the jewelry store.
