Maithili Thakur born on July 25, 2000, in Madhubani, Bihar, within the culturally rich Mithilanchal region. She belongs to a family of musicians.

Her father, Ramesh Thakur, is a classical musician and teacher who trained her and her two younger brothers, Rishav (on tabla) and Ayachi, from a very young age. They often perform together as a popular trio.
Maithili is a graduate of Delhi University, balancing her rigorous musical training with formal education. Her major breakthrough came in 2017 when she participated in the singing reality show Rising Star, where she finished as the first runner-up.

She and her brothers leveraged platforms like YouTube and Facebook to share their performances of traditional Maithili, Bhojpuri, and Hindi folk songs, as well as devotional songs (Bhajans). Her pure, soulful voice and focus on traditional culture amassed millions of followers worldwide.
She is widely recognized for promoting the cultural heritage of the Mithila region, including the traditional Madhubani art form.
