Samsung Galaxy A08 Box Reportedly Drops USB C Cable

Samsung appears to be reducing the number of accessories included with some of its latest budget smartphones. A recent hands on review of the Galaxy A08 has reportedly shown that the retail box contains no USB C cable, adding another item that buyers may need to purchase separately.

The change is particularly noticeable because Samsung already does not include a charger with these phones. With the cable reportedly removed as well, customers buying the Galaxy A08 may receive only the handset and basic documentation inside the package.

The Galaxy A08 is positioned as an entry level smartphone, making the decision notable for buyers who generally expect a basic set of accessories with an affordable phone. A review video by YouTuber Izzi Boye reportedly showed the contents of the Galaxy A08 box, including the phone, a quick start guide and a SIM tool.

There was reportedly no charger and no USB C cable in the package. This means buyers who do not already have a compatible charging setup will need to purchase the required accessories separately before they can charge the handset.

A similar situation has reportedly been seen with the Samsung Galaxy A07s. The phone was launched in selected markets on September 7 as an updated version of the Galaxy A07. Reports from hands on coverage suggest that Samsung has also removed the USB C cable from its retail package.

The move comes at a time when smartphone buyers are already paying close attention to prices and what they receive for their money. Rising component costs, including memory related expenses, have put additional pressure on smartphone pricing across the market.

For budget phone buyers, accessories can make a noticeable difference to the final cost. A customer may initially compare the price of two smartphones based only on their listed prices, but the calculation can change if one device requires a separate charger and cable.

The Galaxy A08 itself offers a fairly familiar entry level hardware package. The smartphone features a 6.7 inch HD Plus LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a waterdrop style notch. The higher refresh rate is intended to provide smoother scrolling compared with a conventional 60Hz panel.

Performance is handled by the MediaTek Helio G99 processor. The phone also uses UFS 2.2 storage, giving it a modern storage standard for this segment.

Photography is handled by a 50MP primary rear camera accompanied by a 2MP secondary sensor. The front of the device has an 8MP camera for selfies and video calls. While the camera setup is aimed at everyday photography, buyers should keep their expectations aligned with the phone’s entry level positioning.

Battery capacity is one of the stronger specifications of the Galaxy A08. The phone packs a 6000mAh battery and supports 25W charging. However, the charging speed can only be used with a suitable charger, which may need to be purchased separately if the buyer does not already own one.

The phone measures around 8mm in thickness and weighs approximately 197 grams. It also carries an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water exposure under specified testing conditions.

Samsung has additionally retained a 3.5mm headphone jack, giving users the option to connect compatible wired headphones without an adapter.

The reported removal of the cable means customers should check the contents of the retail package before purchasing the Galaxy A08 or Galaxy A07s. Availability and included accessories can vary between markets, so buyers should verify the package details for their particular region.

For Samsung, reducing accessories can simplify packaging and potentially lower material use. For customers, however, the change means the actual cost of setting up a new phone may include additional accessories.

The Galaxy A08 continues to offer features such as a large battery, 90Hz display, 50MP main camera, 25W charging support and IP64 protection. The absence of both charger and cable from the reported retail package is therefore likely to become an important consideration for buyers comparing entry level smartphones.
