Reports indicate a significant number of casualties and injuries. Initial reports varied, but the latest information suggests at least 19 people have been killed and over 50 others hospitalized with severe burns. Most of the injured are believed to be students.

The aircraft involved was identified as an F-7 BGI jet, which is a type commonly used by the Bangladesh Air Force for training missions. The crash occurred around 1:00 PM local time (07:00 GMT), shortly after the jet took off for a routine training mission.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and destruction, with smoke and fire billowing from the school building. Emergency services, including fire and military rescue teams, rushed to the scene to secure the area and transport the injured.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The head of Bangladesh’s interim government, Muhammad Yunus, expressed condolences and stated that necessary measures would be taken to investigate the accident and provide assistance. A national day of mourning has reportedly been declared for Tuesday.
