An Indian software engineer has been arrested in the United States after investigators accused him of murdering his wife and attempting to disguise the crime as an accident. The arrest follows a detailed nine month investigation that uncovered several pieces of digital evidence.
The accused, identified as Avinash Narne, is alleged to have killed his wife, Rajitha Sabbineni, at their apartment in Bellevue, Washington. Investigators claim he later sent photographs of her body to a woman in India with whom he was reportedly in a relationship.
The incident took place in October last year. According to investigators, Avinash initially contacted emergency services claiming that his wife had locked herself inside the bathroom and was not responding. However, the investigation soon raised doubts about his version of events.
Surveillance footage from the apartment building reportedly showed that no one else entered the residence during the time of the incident. A postmortem examination later concluded that the victim had died due to strangulation, shifting the focus of the investigation toward the husband.
Investigators also recovered digital records that allegedly showed the accused had contacted his alleged girlfriend multiple times before informing the police. Authorities claim photographs of the victim’s body were also shared through a messaging application before emergency services were contacted.
The investigation further examined messages exchanged between the couple. According to reports, the victim had complained shortly before her death that a drink prepared by her husband tasted unusually bitter. Investigators are examining whether this information has any connection to the circumstances surrounding the crime.
The accused is currently in custody under orders of the King County court. If convicted, he could face severe punishment under United States law. Authorities continue to investigate all aspects of the case, including any possible involvement of other individuals.
