PM Ujjwala Yojana Big Update: 2 LPG Cylinder and Rs 300 free every month
PM Ujjwala Yojana Big Update: The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) continues to be a significant government scheme in India, aimed at providing clean cooking fuel (LPG) to women from economically weaker households. PM Ujjwala Yojana Big Update: 2 LPG Cylinder and Rs 300 free every month.
The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of a targeted subsidy of Rs 300 per 14.2 kg LPG cylinder (and proportionately for 5 kg cylinders) for up to 12 refills per year for PMUY beneficiaries. This subsidy has been extended for the financial year 2024-25, and as of now, there’s no indication of it stopping in 2025.

This subsidy is directly credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.
Initial Freebies: When a new connection is provided under Ujjwala 2.0 (the expanded phase of the scheme), beneficiaries are typically provided with:
A deposit-free LPG connection.
A free first LPG refill.
A free stove (hotplate).
“Unlock 2 Free LPG Cylinders”: While some sources might use phrases like “Unlock 2 Free LPG Cylinders,” it’s important to understand the context. The scheme primarily aims to provide the initial connection, first free refill, and stove. The on-going benefit is the Rs 300 subsidy on each refill for up to 12 refills a year.
So, it’s not “2 free cylinders” in addition to the initial one, but rather subsidized refills that significantly reduce the cost of subsequent cylinders.
