Bollea grew up in Tampa, Florida, and was involved in sports like baseball, even attracting attention from MLB scouts before an injury ended his pitching hopes. He also had a passion for music, playing bass guitar in a rock band called Ruckus.

He attended Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida but did not complete a degree, instead focusing on his interests in music and working out. He was discovered by pro wrestling tag team the Brisco Brothers in 1976 and made his independent circuit debut in 1977.

He briefly wrestled as “The Super Destroyer” before joining the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 1979 and adopting the name “Hulk Hogan.”

In 1993, Hogan left WWF to pursue acting opportunities. He later joined rival promotion World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1994.

In a shocking move that revitalized his career and the wrestling world, Hogan turned villain in 1996, becoming “Hollywood Hogan” and forming the influential New World Order (nWo) with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.

This “heel” turn helped WCW directly compete with WWF during the “Monday Night Wars.” He won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship six times.

Later Career and Return to WWE:

Hogan returned to WWE in 2002, bringing back his “Hulkamania” persona. He continued to have high-profile matches, including an iconic encounter with The Rock at WrestleMania X8.

He faced health issues from years of wrestling, undergoing numerous surgeries for his back, hips, and knees. He also admitted to using steroids during his wrestling career.

In 2016, Hogan won a significant lawsuit against Gawker Media after the outlet published a sex tape. He was briefly removed from the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 due to racist remarks made on the leaked tape but was later reinstated after apologizing.
