POVA 8 Pro Leads New Smartphone Arrivals as Boltt Enters India With AI Cameras
POVA 8 Pro brings a 144Hz AMOLED display, gaming focused hardware and a rear LED display, while Boltt introduces AI powered cameras and smart features in India.

India is set for another busy week in the smartphone market, with new devices arriving from brands looking to stand out with cameras, gaming features and artificial intelligence.
Among the upcoming launches, Tecno POVA 8 Pro is attracting attention for its unusual rear display and gaming focused specifications. The smartphone will officially launch in India on August 18 and will be sold through Flipkart.
The POVA 8 Pro is designed to offer a balance between performance and everyday use. It features a 6.78 inch HyperLux AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i is expected to provide additional protection for the screen.
Powering the phone is the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G chipset, paired with a dedicated P1 graphics chip aimed at improving gaming performance. Tecno has also added a 5000 square millimetre vapor chamber as part of its 5K IceShield VC cooling system to help manage heat during demanding use.
The most eye catching feature, however, sits on the back of the phone. Called the Alive Matrix Display, the rear panel uses 177 individually controlled mini LEDs. The lighting can respond to more than 49 situations, including incoming calls, messages, gaming and file transfers. Users will also be able to customise several of these lighting effects.
Tecno has kept the design relatively slim despite the focus on performance. The phone measures just 7.39mm in thickness and weighs around 189 grams. It will be offered in Graphite Black, Tundra Green and Arctic White.
The Indian smartphone market will also see a new entrant later this month. Audio brand Boltt is preparing to launch its first smartphones, the Boltt Ace 5G and Boltt Evo, on August 25. Both models will be available through Flipkart.
Camera performance is a major focus for the two Boltt phones. The Ace 5G will feature a 64 megapixel primary rear camera, while the Evo will come with a 50 megapixel main camera. Both models will have an 8 megapixel front camera with Real Tone support.
Boltt is also bringing several Google AI imaging features to the devices. Face Unblur is designed to produce clearer selfies, while AI powered Night Mode and scene optimisation are intended to improve photographs in different lighting conditions. The company says the camera experience is designed to deliver natural looking results across different skin tones.
Google Gemini will power several AI functions on the new Boltt smartphones. Users will be able to identify objects, translate text, use Circle to Search and access Google Lens directly on the devices.
With Tecno focusing heavily on gaming and an unusual rear display, while Boltt is entering the market with AI driven camera tools, Indian buyers will have some interesting new choices to consider this month.
