OnePlus appears to be preparing its next flagship smartphone, with the OnePlus 16 tipped to arrive as the successor to the OnePlus 15. Early leaks suggest the company is planning some notable upgrades, particularly in the display, camera and battery departments.
The display could be one of the phones biggest changes. Tipster Digital Chat Station has reportedly claimed that the OnePlus 16 may use a next generation BOE Oriental display with support for a 165Hz refresh rate. The higher refresh rate could appeal to gamers looking for smoother movement and quicker screen response.
The camera setup is also expected to receive a major boost. According to the leak, the OnePlus 16 could feature a 200 megapixel telephoto camera on the rear. If the specification makes it to the final device, it would represent a significant jump in resolution for the phones zoom photography capabilities.
Under the hood, the smartphone is tipped to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. OnePlus is also expected to continue its focus on gaming, with features such as Wind Chaser Gaming Core, high refresh rate support and an E Sports Triple Chip system.
Battery capacity could be another standout feature. The OnePlus 16 is reportedly being tested with a 9000mAh battery, which would give the flagship considerable endurance if the specification is confirmed.
On the software side, the Chinese version could run ColorOS 17 based on Android 17. The company may also bring back an 8GB RAM variant, a configuration that has not appeared in the flagship lineup since the OnePlus 11.
The OnePlus 16 could reportedly debut in China as early as next month. However, the company has not officially confirmed the leaked specifications or launch details, so the final hardware may differ.
For comparison, the OnePlus 15 features a 6.78 inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a 7300mAh battery. Its rear camera system includes 50 megapixel primary, periscope telephoto and ultra wide sensors.
