The South Western Railway has announced a special express service between Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram North to manage the expected increase in passenger traffic during the Onam festival.

The train will make a single round trip, giving passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Kerala an additional option during the busy festive period.

The outbound service, numbered 06575, will leave SMVT Bengaluru at 4.40 pm on August 22 and reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 10 am the following day. The return service, numbered 06576, will depart Thiruvananthapuram North at 12.40 pm on August 23 and arrive at Bengaluru Cantonment at 5.15 am on August 24.

The 20 coach special train will stop at several important stations along the route. These include Krishnarajapuram, Bangarapet, Kuppam, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Podanur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanassery, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayamkulam, Karunagappalli, Sasthamkotta and Kollam.

The service is expected to be particularly useful for passengers heading towards Kerala for Onam celebrations. Passengers should note that the return service from Thiruvananthapuram North will terminate at Bengaluru Cantonment and will not have a halt at SMVT Bengaluru.

Travellers are advised to check the latest timings, availability and other journey details through the official railway website, the NTES app or the 139 railway helpline before starting their trip.
