Apple Expands Green Push in India with Major Clean Energy Investment and Startup Support

Apple has taken a significant step in strengthening its environmental commitment in India with a fresh round of green investments and partnerships. The company is focusing on renewable energy expansion, better waste management systems, and early stage support for climate focused startups as part of its long term carbon neutrality goals set for 2030.

One of the biggest highlights of this initiative is Apple’s collaboration with renewable energy developer CleanMax. Through this partnership, the company plans to expand clean energy capacity across India using an investment of around 100 crore rupees. According to the company, this effort will help develop more than 150 megawatts of renewable energy capacity in the country.

This clean energy output is expected to generate electricity equivalent to powering nearly 1.5 lakh Indian households every year. Apple has also stated that this move will further support its efforts to transition its supply chain in India towards cleaner energy sources. The company has previously worked with CleanMax on rooftop solar projects that already supply renewable power to its offices and retail locations.

Alongside energy production, Apple is also expanding its focus on environmental protection through waste management initiatives. In partnership with WWF India, the company is working on improving recycling systems and reducing plastic pollution. The program aims to strengthen material recovery processes while working closely with local authorities, communities, and waste management workers.

Another key part of Apple’s India strategy involves supporting early stage climate focused businesses. Through its partnership with the social impact organization Acumen, the company plans to provide funding and guidance to startups working in areas like circular economy, regenerative agriculture, and waste reduction.

This initiative will support several emerging enterprises, including Saptkrishi, Yotuh Energy, and Mowo Fleet. These startups will receive financial grants along with mentorship, technical assistance, and strategic support to help scale their environmental solutions.

Apple’s renewed investment reflects a broader shift where global technology companies are increasingly linking innovation with sustainability. By combining clean energy production, recycling efforts, and startup development, the company is building a more integrated approach to environmental responsibility in India.

With these new steps, Apple is not only expanding its presence in the Indian market but also contributing to a larger vision of reducing environmental impact while supporting local innovation in green technology and sustainable development.
