Three Dead After Fire Breaks Out in Bihar Hospital ICU
A pre dawn fire inside an intensive care unit in Bihar left three people dead and several injured, prompting a rescue operation and an investigation into the cause.

A tragic fire at a hospital in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district claimed three lives and left several others injured early on Thursday, triggering panic among patients and hospital staff.
The incident occurred around 3.55 am when flames suddenly erupted inside the hospital’s intensive care unit. At the time, multiple critically ill patients were undergoing treatment inside the ward, creating a challenging situation for rescuers.
Hospital employees immediately alerted emergency services after noticing the fire. Firefighters and police personnel rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation to evacuate those trapped inside the smoke filled unit.
Authorities said between 15 and 20 patients were rescued from the affected area. Two patients were declared dead at the scene, while others were shifted to nearby medical facilities for emergency treatment.
One of the injured patients later succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at another hospital, taking the death toll to three. Several others continue to receive medical care.
Preliminary findings indicate that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze, although officials have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
District authorities said appropriate action would be taken once the inquiry is completed. The tragedy has once again highlighted concerns about fire safety measures in healthcare facilities where vulnerable patients depend on uninterrupted emergency care.
