Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ breaks records to become highest-grossing Hindi film in India
Mumbai : Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh’s latest action thriller, Dhurandhar, has made history at the Indian box office by grossing over ₹831 crore in India, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film to date, the film’s producer Adityadhar announced on Wednesday.
The film continues to draw audiences even after more than a month in theatres, with a collection of ₹5.70 crore on its 33rd day, pushing its total domestic earnings to ₹831.40 crore. With this achievement, Dhurandhar has officially surpassed all previous Hindi films in terms of box office revenue, setting a new benchmark for the industry.
“History has been rewritten. As of Tuesday, Dhurandhar is officially the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, redefining Indian box office success,” the production team stated.
Previous record-holders
Before Dhurandhar, the record for the highest-grossing Hindi film was held by the 2023 release Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun in its Hindi version, which had amassed ₹830 crore. Other major box office successes like Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and the horror-comedy Stree 2 had performed strongly but were overtaken by Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster.
Box office journey of Dhurandhar
Dhurandhar’s performance has been consistently strong since its release. During its opening week, the film earned ₹218 crore in India. The second week saw a rise to ₹261.50 crore, followed by ₹189.30 crore in the third week, ₹115.70 crore in the fourth week, and ₹35.80 crore over the fifth weekend. With screenings ongoing, further collections are expected to push the total even higher.
The film’s plot, which revolves around political conspiracies, counter-terrorism operations, and covert espionage, has captivated audiences across the country. The ensemble cast includes notable actors such as Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, R. Madhavan, and Rakesh Bedi, whose performances have contributed significantly to the film’s success.

Bollywood’s prestigious Yash Raj Films praised the Dhurandhar team for their achievement. “Dhurandhar is more than just a film; it is a milestone that will remain etched in the history of Indian cinema forever,” the studio stated, acknowledging the film’s extraordinary box office performance and cultural impact.
