Mumbai Roads Waterlogged as IMD Warns of Heavy Rain Until July 4

The India Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for Mumbai, warning of intense rainfall until July 4 as widespread waterlogging and traffic disruptions continue across several parts of the city.

Heavy rainfall has disrupted normal life across Mumbai, with several roads submerged under rainwater and low lying areas witnessing severe waterlogging. The situation has affected both motorists and pedestrians, while traffic congestion has been reported from different parts of the city.

The India Meteorological Department has warned that rainfall activity is likely to intensify between July 1 and July 4. An Orange Alert has been issued for Mumbai, with forecasters predicting very heavy rainfall in isolated locations during this period.

According to the weather department, July 3 is expected to witness the most intense spell of rain. Residents have been advised to remain cautious as heavy showers could lead to further flooding in vulnerable areas and disrupt transportation services.

This year’s southwest monsoon reached Mumbai more than a week later than its usual arrival around June 11. After the delayed onset, rainfall has now become more active, bringing persistent showers across the city.

Overnight rain left many low lying neighbourhoods inundated, creating lake like conditions on several roads. Civic authorities are monitoring the situation, while emergency teams remain on alert to respond to any weather related incidents as heavy rain is expected to continue over the next few days.
