Karnataka SIR Date Extend: House-to-House Verification Deadline Moved to August 17

The Karnataka Election Commission has extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. The house-to-house verification drive, which was earlier scheduled to conclude on August 8, will now continue until August 17.

With the extension, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will have additional time to visit households, verify voters’ details, and update or collect new information required for the electoral roll.

According to the revised schedule, the draft electoral roll will be published on August 24 for public verification. Voters whose names are missing from the list or who notice any errors will be able to submit claims and objections between August 24 and September 23.

During this period, citizens can apply for corrections, additions, or deletions by submitting the required forms to the designated election authorities. After examining all claims and objections, the final revised electoral roll will be published on October 27.

Citizens do not need to visit polling stations to verify their details. They can check their names online through the National Voters’ Service Portal (NVSP) or by using the Voter Helpline mobile app. If any corrections are required, voters can submit Form 8 online to update details such as their name, age, or address. For further assistance, they can also contact the Election Commission’s toll-free helpline by dialing 1950.

With upcoming Lok Sabha or local body elections, ensuring that voter information is accurate is crucial to avoid being left out of the electoral roll. All eligible citizens are advised to verify their details and complete any necessary corrections within the prescribed deadline to safeguard their right to vote.
