Lalu Yadav s grand son Aditya Yadav begins two-year basic military training in Singapore

New Delhi: Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, shared on social media that her son, Aditya, has commenced his two-year Basic Military Training (BMT) in Singapore. The post quickly went viral, highlighting the pride of his family in this significant milestone.

Rohini Acharya wrote, “Today my heart is filled with pride. After completing his pre-university education, our elder son Aditya, at just 18 years old, has embarked on a two-year basic military training program.” Addressing Aditya directly, she added, “Aditya, you are courageous and disciplined. Go and achieve great things. Always remember, soldiers are shaped to handle life’s toughest battles. Our love and encouragement are always with you.”

The family has been residing in Singapore for several years. According to Singaporean law, all male citizens and permanent residents must serve compulsory national service upon turning 18. As a second-generation permanent resident, Aditya is required to serve in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

BMT marks the initial phase of national service, designed to instill discipline, physical fitness, teamwork, and leadership skills. Upon completion, recruits are assigned to the Army, Navy, Air Force, or non-combat support units. Depending on their rank and posting, reservist obligations continue until the age of 40 or 50.

Although the training is military in nature, it is part of Singapore’s compulsory national service rather than a voluntary or special enlistment. Singapore enforces strict penalties for evasion, and this requirement applies to all eligible residents.

Aditya’s entry into the SAF highlights the ongoing importance Singapore places on national defense and civic duty, while also reflecting the family’s pride in his disciplined approach and commitment to serving the country.
