To reduce long queues andovercrowding at ticket counters, a token system has been made mandatory for Tatkal bookings made offline. It is important to note that there are no changes to the online Tatkal booking process.
Tatkal Train Ticket Booking New Rules:
Mandatory Token Before Booking:
Passengers booking Tatkal tickets at railway reservation counters must first obtain a token. They will be called to the booking counter according to their token number, ensuring a more organized and hassle-free process.
AC Tatkal Ticket Timings:
Tatkal booking starts: 10:00 AM
Token distribution: Between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM
Non-AC/Sleeper Tatkal Ticket Timings:
Tatkal booking starts: 11:00 AM
Token distribution: Between 9:30 AM and 10:00 AM
The Railways has also set a limit on the number of tokens that can be issued at each reservation counter. A maximum of 10 tokens will be issued for AC Tatkal ticket bookings, while Non-AC/Sleeper Tatkal bookings will be limited to 15 tokens per counter.
Why This Change?
The new token system is aimed at reducing overcrowding and last-minute rush at railway reservation counters. It will also help passengers know in advance whether they are likely to get a Tatkal ticket, making the booking process more transparent and convenient.
Passengers planning to book Tatkal tickets at railway reservation counters are advised to arrive early and collect their tokens within the specified time slots to avoid missing their chance to book tickets.
