
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is scheduled to visit Karur on Friday, where he will hand over government job appointment orders to families affected by the tragic Karur stampede. The visit is expected to focus on relief measures for victims as well as the rollout of key welfare and development initiatives.
According to officials, appointment orders for government jobs will be presented to members of 32 affected families. During the visit, the Chief Minister is also expected to meet a total of 41 families impacted by the stampede and interact with them personally.
The Karur stampede occurred on September 27, 2025, when a large crowd gathered during a public event, resulting in the deaths of several people. The state government later announced relief measures, including employment assistance for eligible family members of the victims.
CM Vijay is expected to arrive in Tiruchirappalli by air at around 11 am before travelling by road to Karur. He will address a public gathering at the Atlas Kalaiarangam Grounds located on the Karur Salem Bypass Road.
Apart from distributing appointment orders, the Chief Minister will also extend assistance to beneficiaries of various government welfare schemes during the programme.
As part of the visit, Vijay will lay the foundation stone for a private non leather footwear manufacturing facility proposed near Karur with an investment of about Rs 1700 crore. The project is expected to generate nearly 13000 employment opportunities after completion.
Security arrangements have been strengthened across the route and at the event venues in view of the Chief Minister’s visit and the large number of people expected to attend the programmes.
