Gold Rate in India Crosses Rs 1 Lakh: Check latest rates
Gold Rate in India: On Saturday, July 19, 2025, India witnessed a substantial increase in gold prices, with 24-karat gold crossing the Rs 1,00,000 mark per 10 grams. This surge has sparked concerns among buyers about a potential further rally in gold prices.
According to various reports, the price of 24-karat gold (pure gold) increased by approximately Rs 660 to reach Rs 1,00,040 per 10 grams in most major cities. Similarly, 22-karat gold saw a rise of around Rs 600, reaching Rs 91,700 per 10 grams, and 18-karat gold went up by Rs 490 to Rs 75,030 per 10 grams.

Factors Contributing to the Price Surge:
The sharp surge in gold rates is largely attributed to investors navigating the impact of new United States tariffs and concerns regarding the US economy based on macroeconomic data. Persistent trade tariff uncertainty and ongoing geopolitical tensions globally have bolstered the demand for gold as a safe-haven asset. Investors tend to flock to gold during times of uncertainty, viewing it as a reliable store of value.
While international gold rates play a role, the performance of the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar also significantly influences domestic prices. A depreciating Rupee makes imported gold more expensive in local currency. Gold is traditionally seen as a hedge against inflation. With recent Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation data showing gold as one of the commodities experiencing a sharp jump in prices, it suggests a continued trend of gold being sought out to counter inflationary pressures.

Impact on Buyers:
The re-entry of 24K gold into the Rs 1 lakh territory has raised anxieties among consumers, particularly those planning purchases for weddings or festivals. While gold has consistently proven to be a long-term investment, these sharp fluctuations make short-term buying decisions more challenging.
Experts suggest that gold is likely to remain strong in the near term, with potential for further gains, as global risk aversion and trade-related developments continue to fuel its appeal. Investors are closely monitoring upcoming US data releases for further cues.
