Bengaluru to Hyderabad in Just 2 Hours: Major Update on Bullet Train Project

As part of this mega plan, our Silicon City, Bengaluru, has hit the jackpot. Travel from Bengaluru to Hyderabad and Chennai will soon become faster than flying.

Indian Railways is stepping into a groundbreaking era. In a bid to slash commute times between major metros, the Central Government has unveiled seven new high-speed bullet train corridors, backed by a massive Rs 16 lakh crore mega-investment.

As part of this mega plan, our Silicon City, Bengaluru, has hit the jackpot. Travel from Bengaluru to Hyderabad and Chennai will soon become faster than flying. This mega project is set to completely transform India’s transport infrastructure, making it as easy for Bengaluru residents to visit neighboring metro cities as it is to travel to a nearby local neighborhood.

Complete details of this mega project:

Hyderabad – Bengaluru Corridor: Bengaluru and Hyderabad are the two biggest tech hubs in India. Currently, even the fast Vande Bharat Express takes around 8.5 hours to commute between these cities. Once the bullet train is operational, this entire journey will be wrapped up in just 2 hours, significantly strengthening business and employment connectivity.

Chennai – Bengaluru Corridor: Bengaluru and Chennai share a deeply robust economic bond. Travel by road or regular rail currently takes 5 to 7 hours. Thanks to this high-speed corridor, you will be able to reach Chennai from Bengaluru in just 1 hour and 13 minutes—making it faster and much more convenient than a commercial flight.

Updates on the Other 5 Bullet Train Projects:

The Central Government has planned high-speed networks across various other crucial sectors of the country:

Delhi – Varanasi Corridor: Travelling from Delhi to Varanasi currently takes 8 hours on the Vande Bharat. The bullet train will shrink this journey to just 3 hours and 50 minutes. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) process for this route has already been completed.

Varanasi – Siliguri Corridor: Passing through Patna in Bihar, this corridor will connect North India directly with Northeast India. The entire journey will be completed in just 2 hours and 55 minutes.

Mumbai – Pune Corridor: Slated to become a vital business lifeline for Maharashtra, this route will slash travel time to a mere 48 minutes, proving to be a massive boon for daily business commuters.

Pune – Hyderabad Corridor: Connecting two major IT powerhouses, this high-speed rail line will cut down total travel time to just 1 hour and 55 minutes.

Hyderabad – Chennai Corridor: Connecting Telangana and Tamil Nadu, this corridor will allow commuters to travel between the states in just 2 hours and 55 minutes, providing a massive boost to trade and regional tourism.
