AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel threatens hand amputation for anyone harassing Muslim women amid Bihar hijab row
Maharashtra: AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel on Friday warned that anyone who harms or harasses Muslim women with ill intent will face severe consequences, including having their hand cut off. He made the remarks during a rally in Jalna, amid ongoing controversy over Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s comments on a Muslim woman’s hijab.
Jaleel criticized so-called secular parties, accusing them of supporting criminals and thugs while failing to stand up for Muslim communities. “These parties brand AIMIM as communal or untouchable, yet in reality, they are the most communal and reluctant to let Muslims rise as leaders,” he said.
Referring to Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad’s remarks on the hijab controversy, Jaleel added, “A minister from UP has made objectionable statements. If anyone touches Muslim women with malicious intent, I will cut their hand off.”
The rally was part of the campaign for 17 AIMIM candidates ahead of the municipal corporation elections scheduled for January 15. Jaleel accused the BJP of tolerating criminal elements while failing to provide proper representation or protection for Muslims.
He said, “So-called secular parties often defend criminals but hesitate to support Muslims. We will ensure that our community is protected and represented.”
Jaleel’s statement comes at a time when debates over religious attire and minority rights are intensifying across several states, with political leaders leveraging the issues ahead of local elections.
The remarks have sparked controversy, with political observers noting that such threats could escalate tensions in an already sensitive socio-political environment.
