Teen dies after stabbing father, shoots himself in Dakshina Kannada’s Kadaba

Kadaba (Dakshina Kannada) :A shocking domestic tragedy unfolded in Ramakunja village under Kadaba police station limits on Saturday evening, where a minor boy allegedly stabbed his father during a heated argument and later died by suicide after firing a gun registered in his father’s name. The incident has left the entire locality stunned.

The injured has been identified as Vasantha Ameen (60), a resident of Pademane in Ramakunja village. The deceased is his 17-year-old son, Moksha, who was studying at a private educational institution in Mangaluru.

According to police sources, Vasantha Ameen’s wife had left the family home and gone to her parental house around two months ago following domestic differences. Subsequently, Moksha was brought back to live with his father. On Saturday, the father had taken his son to Mangaluru for medical treatment. They returned home around 3 pm.

Soon after reaching the house, a minor disagreement between the father and son escalated into a serious altercation. In a fit of anger, Moksha allegedly attacked his father with a knife, causing serious injuries. Moments later, the teenager reportedly took a gun registered in his father’s name and fired at himself. He died on the spot, police said.

Vasantha Ameen, who sustained severe injuries in the stabbing, was immediately rushed to a hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be stable.

Police stated that the exact reason behind the argument remains unclear. Investigators are examining whether emotional distress, family issues, or other factors played a role in the incident. The sequence of events is being reconstructed based on preliminary findings and witness statements.

Kadaba police rushed to the spot after receiving information and conducted a detailed inspection. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Given the use of a firearm, forensic experts have also been roped in to examine the weapon and collect evidence from the scene.

The combination of family conflict, a knife attack, and the death of a minor has cast a pall of gloom over the village, with residents expressing shock and grief over the tragic turn of events.
