UGCET Third Round Temporary Result Released With New Choice 4 Option

The Karnataka Examination Authority has announced the temporary results of the third and final round of counselling for UGCET courses, including engineering and several other professional programmes. The temporary seat allotment result was released on September 4.

This round brings an important change for candidates who have received a seat allotment for the first time. For the first time, KEA has provided a Choice 4 option for such candidates, allowing them to withdraw from the counselling process if they do not want to continue with the allotted seat.

KEA Executive Director H Prasanna said candidates who have received a fresh seat allotment in the third round can select Choice 4 by 5 pm on September 5. Those who choose this option will be allowed to exit the counselling process according to the prescribed procedure.

However, the Choice 4 facility does not apply to every candidate. Students who received a seat in the second round, completed admission at the allotted college and then participated in the third round only for an upgrade will not get the Choice 4 option.

Such candidates are required to continue with the admission process and wait for the final seat allotment result. Once the final result is announced, they will be required to take admission in the allotted college without citing a reason for refusing the seat.

KEA has also issued a warning for candidates who decide not to accept an engineering seat after the final allotment. Such students may have to pay the prescribed fee along with a penalty amounting to five times the applicable fee.

The authority has cautioned that refusing an allotted government quota engineering seat after the final stage could be treated as seat blocking. Legal action may also be considered against candidates in such cases, according to the instructions issued by the authority.

The temporary result will not necessarily remain unchanged. KEA has said that the third round allotment will be reconsidered after including the seats of candidates who select Choice 4. The existing options submitted by candidates will also be taken into account before the final result is prepared.

This means candidates who have received a temporary allotment should carefully check their status and understand the applicable rules before making a decision. Students who are eligible for Choice 4 have been given a specific deadline to exercise the option.

The third round counselling covers more than engineering admissions. Candidates seeking seats in architecture, yoga and naturopathy, agricultural science, veterinary science, BSc Nursing, B Pharmacy, Pharm D, BPT, BPO and allied health science programmes are also included in this round.

With the third round being described as the final round, candidates are expected to pay close attention to the instructions issued by KEA. The decision made at this stage can affect their admission status and the obligations connected with the allotted seat.

The introduction of Choice 4 provides newly allotted candidates with an additional route to leave the counselling process, while students who were already admitted through the second round and sought an upgrade remain subject to different rules.

Candidates should therefore check whether they fall under the newly allotted category or the upgrade category before selecting any option. The distinction is particularly important because the Choice 4 facility is available only to candidates who received a fresh allotment in the third round.

KEA will proceed with the final allotment after considering the choices exercised during this stage. Candidates will then have to follow the admission requirements applicable to their final allotment.
