Karnataka Best Teacher Award 2026 27 Announced With 32 Teachers Honoured
Karnataka has announced the Best Teacher Award for 2026 27, recognising 20 primary teachers, 11 secondary teachers and one special teacher for their contribution to education.
The Karnataka government has announced the Best Teacher Award for the 2026 27 academic year, recognising teachers from different parts of the state for their work in the education sector.
A total of 32 teachers have been selected for the honour. The list includes 20 teachers from the primary school category, 11 teachers from the secondary school category and one special teacher. The awards will be presented on September 5 as part of Teachers Day celebrations.
The selection includes teachers working in government schools as well as institutions serving different communities across Karnataka. The awardees represent several districts, including Bengaluru, Ballari, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Shivamogga, Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada and other regions.
Among the primary school awardees is C Uma, a teacher at the Government Lower Primary School in Kempathimmanahalli in Devanahalli taluk. Basappa Parappa Patil from KHPS Hallur Cross School in the Mudalagi educational zone of Chikkodi has also been selected.
Ashoka from the Government Higher Primary School at Heskuthur in Kundapura taluk and Suresh K from the Government Lower Primary School at Gunderadoddi in Devadurga taluk are among the other recipients.
The primary school category also includes Hanamanta Kallappa Kataraki from Kengalagutti Government Higher Primary School in Vijayapura taluk and Usha V Nayak from the Government Higher Primary School in Honnavar.
Mastan Vali from Guttahalli Government Lower Primary School in Chintamani taluk has been chosen for the award. Prabhavati Balappa Halenavar, head teacher at the Zafarwadi Marathi Higher Primary School in Belagavi Rural taluk, is another recipient.
Sarojamma from Government Higher Primary School in Satthegala Agrahara, Kollegal, and Ningappa, head teacher at Government Higher Primary School in Gunjababalad of Aland taluk, have also made it to the list.
Rathnamma NM from Kembathahalli Government Higher Primary School in Bengaluru South zone has been selected along with Nemanna Bammanna Jamakhandi from Sri Jinasenacharya Higher Primary School in Teradal, Jamkhandi.
The list further includes Ramachandra E Naik from Government Higher Primary School in Ganapathigalli, Yallapur, Malini M from Government Lower Primary School in Mudigowdanahalli of Koratagere taluk and Kumaranayak BD from Government Lower Primary School in Chikkamagadi Tanda of Shikaripura taluk.
Krishnamurthy KS from Government Model Primary School in Gruhalakshmi Layout under Bengaluru North zone, Mallikarjuna Badiger from Government Lower Primary School in Sadashivapura of Honnali, and Premkumar VS from Government Higher Primary School in Hegdehar of Turuvekere are also among the awardees.
Duragappa H from Government Higher Primary and High School in Konchigeri, Siruguppa, and Mailarappa Budihal from Government Higher Primary School in Hanavala, Gangavathi, complete the primary school list.
The secondary school category includes teachers from government schools, Karnataka Public School and other institutions. Biradar Siddappa Veerabhadrappa from Government High School in Chibbalageri, Haliyal, has been selected for the honour.
Shainakumari M from Karnataka Public School in Jeevan Bhimanagar under Bengaluru South zone four is also among the recipients. Kuberanayak B from Government High School in Tammadihalli, Shivamogga, and Neelakantha Gawankar, head teacher in the secondary section of Devanahalli Government Pre University College, have been recognised.
V Venkatesh, head teacher at Government High School in Goolur, Bagepalli, and Mamata R Nayak, head teacher at the upgraded Government Higher Primary School in Aghanashini, Kumta, are among the other secondary school awardees.
Roshan Alexander from Carmel High School in Modankapu, Bantwal, has also been selected. Jayasheela, a physical education teacher at Government Adarsha Vidyalaya in Mysuru South taluk, is another recipient.
The remaining awardees include Mathai T from Government High School in Muthinkoppa of Narasimharajapura taluk in Chikkamagaluru and Jayappa KT from Government Higher Primary School in Nittuvalli, Davanagere taluk.
Anand Madev Zande from Government High School in Takkalaki, Vijayapura Rural taluk, has been identified as the special teacher among this years recipients.
The awards are scheduled to be presented on September 5, giving the selected teachers a formal recognition during Teachers Day. The announcement brings together educators working across different levels and regions of Karnataka, highlighting their role in supporting students and strengthening school education.
The award ceremony is expected to be an important part of this years Teachers Day programme, with the selected educators receiving recognition for their contribution to teaching and their respective institutions.
