Coastal districts of Karnataka, including Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada, are under a Red Alert, indicating very heavy rainfall is expected from July 24 to 26. Expected to receive extremely heavy rain and strong surface winds today, July 24, and tomorrow, July 25. Very heavy rain is forecast until July 30.

Normal life has been disrupted in coastal Karnataka due to heavy downpours, with reports of localized flooding and damage to infrastructure in some areas. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea until July 26 due to squally weather and strong winds.
Udupi and Dakshina Kannada: Schools, PU, and ITI colleges in Udupi and Mangaluru taluk (Dakshina Kannada district) have declared a holiday for July 24, 2025. This decision has been made by the respective district administrations as a precautionary measure due to heavy rainfall and the red alert issued by the IMD.
Other Districts: While there isn’t a statewide school holiday for July 24, other districts, especially those in coastal Karnataka and the Malnad region (like Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, and Shivamogga) that are under heavy rain alerts, may also have district-specific closures.
