The video depicts Owaisi performing an aarti at a Hanuman temple, with devotional music added in the background to make it appear authentic. Social media users, especially on platforms like X and Facebook, shared the clip widely, attributing it to a real incident.
A fake account linked to BJP Karnataka reportedly circulated the video on December 8 with captions suggesting that Owaisi visited a temple for a special ceremony, adding provocative statements to attract attention. The post gained around 2,000 likes and several controversial comments.
Fact-checking agencies confirmed that the video was manipulated using AI, with visual effects that created a realistic but entirely fabricated scenario. The clip included star markings and details that made it appear credible, further misleading viewers.
Experts emphasized that such AI-generated content can be highly deceptive and urged users to verify sources before sharing.
Owaisi, who has recently been in the news for his political engagements, including statements against Pakistan after the Pulwama attacks and electoral campaigns in Bihar and Maharashtra, was not present at any temple ceremony. The circulation of this fake video adds to the ongoing trend of digitally manipulated content influencing public opinion.
