Death note reveals acting passion behind TV actress Nandini’s suicide in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old television actress died by suicide after leaving behind a death note, expressing her deep passion for acting and distress over family pressure to pursue a government job.
The incident occurred on the night of December 28 within the limits of the Kengeri police station and came to light later. The deceased has been identified as Nandini, a native of Ballari district, who was residing at an “Insta Living” paying guest accommodation in Mailasandra, Kengeri.
Based on a complaint filed by her mother, police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation. According to police officials, Nandini had acted in the Kannada television serial Gauri aired on a private channel and had also appeared in a Tamil-language serial.
She was reportedly passionate about acting and had been pursuing opportunities in the television industry for several years. A handwritten death note found in her diary has provided crucial insight into her state of mind.
In the note, Nandini reportedly wrote that she did not wish to take up a government job and wanted to continue her career in acting. She also mentioned that her family members were not listening to her wishes, which caused her emotional distress.
Nandini’s father, S. Mahabaleshwara, was a government lower primary school teacher who passed away in 2021 following illness. In 2023, Nandini was offered a job at the taluk office on compassionate grounds.
However, police said she was reluctant to take up the position, insisting that acting was her true calling. She later moved to Bengaluru and began staying in paying guest accommodations, against her family’s wishes.
Investigations revealed that Nandini completed her PUC in Ballari in 2018 and later enrolled for a BE course at R.R. Institute in Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru. However, her interest in acting reportedly led her to skip college regularly.
She subsequently joined an acting training institute in the Rajarajeshwari Nagar area and began getting roles in Kannada television serials from 2019 onwards.
Over the years, she stayed in various PG accommodations in Rajarajeshwari Nagar and later shifted to the Mailasandra PG in August 2025, police said. Friends and colleagues described her as determined and ambitious but emotionally vulnerable due to family pressure and career uncertainty.
Police are examining all aspects related to her death and have ruled out foul play at this stage. They have also appealed to the public to take mental health concerns seriously.
